Today in Central Florida sports history: FSU alum Brooks Koepka delivers record-setting performance

Brooks Koepka kept pouring it on, all the way to a record-setting performance that left the rest of the field scrambling just to keep his lead from reaching double digits.

The FSU alum and Florida native shot a 5-under 65 to set the mark for the lowest 36-hole score in a golf major during the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black on this day in 2019.

The defending tournament champion’s 65 nearly matched the 7-under 63 he posted in the opening round as he moved to 12-under and showed why he was the player to beat.

Scott (64) and Spieth (66) were plenty good on Day 2 and they needed every stroke under par they could get to keep Koepka within their sights.
