HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS — For two of the top golfers in the state, the Class 1A state tournament was all about team.
Lake Mary Prep’s Kiko Coelho and The First Academy’s Cissy Yang were not eligible for state individual honors due to Florida High School Athletic Association rules that require participation in district and region meets. Coelho missed his team’s district appearance and Yang started but did not finish her team’s district round last month.
So instead of trying to hoist a trophy of their own, the No. 1 golfers on their respective teams were totally focused on helping their schools hoist a collective team trophy.
