Substitute Jordan Morris grabs late winner for Seattle Sounders vs. Chicago Fire FC

SEATTLE, Wash. – Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris picked up where he left off last year, bagging a brace — and nearly assisted on two more goals— as the defending MLS Cup champions snatched three points late in stoppage time in a 2-1 victory over Chicago Fire FC at CenturyLink Field Sunday.

Morris’ winner came in the third minute of second-half stoppage time. A corner kick from João Paolo was redirected by Cristian Roldan and headed home by Morris at the back post. The strike brought the crowd of 40,126 to their feet, ending what seemed destined to be a frustrating draw for the Sounders to open their year.
