Steve Ross, Miami Dolphins pledge $3 million to provide 1,000 meals daily

Miami Dolphins owner Steve Ross and the team’s foundation announced an initiative Wednesday that could generate $4 million to provide food and work for people in South Florida.

The Dolphins intend to provide a minimum of 1,000 meals each weekday out of Hard Rock Stadium for up to a year to assist those in need through a voucher system.

Ross will also help fund the Dolphins Foundation Food Relief Program with $2 million, and will spend an additional $1 million to match donations raised by the foundation with hopes to reach $4 million total.

"We are committed to combating food insecurity and helping to provide consistent employment as the first step in rebuilding our community, starting in Miami Gardens,” Ross said in a statement provided by the team.
