By now, his story is well known. Griffin had his left hand amputated when he was 4 years old because of amniotic-band syndrome, a congenital condition. It didn’t stop him from living out his dreams of playing football as he got older, and he eventually became a stellar college outside linebacker at Central Florida and reached the NFL.

Spending his first three professional seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, Griffin signed July 23 to join the Miami Dolphins ahead of training camp. After Thursday’s second practice, he lit up as he spoke about the new opportunity with the Dolphins, who were in need of another outside linebacker to compete in camp.
