San Jose Earthquakes’ Jackson Yueill ready to face challenging year with club and country

SAN JOSE, Calif. — After a rollercoaster 2019 season that saw them fluctuate up and down the Western Conference standings and miss the playoffs for the second straight year, the San Jose Earthquakes enter the 2020 MLS campaign with mixed expectations.

One certainty for the Quakes, however, entering year two under the management of head coach Matias Almeyda will be their roster, which is almost entirely unchanged from last fall. And perhaps the most important player on the squad, the potential difference maker in the team’s fortunes, is 22-year-old Jackson Yueill, the emerging general in San Jose’s central midfield.
