Pro Soccer USA can confirm through Norwegian sources that Efrain Juarez, who had connections with New York City FC coach Ronny Deila at Celtic FC and Vålerenga, will be added to Deila’s staff as an assistant coach.
The Norwegian publications, VG and Aftenposten, were the first to report that the 31-year old Juarez was moving to the Bronx.
According to Aftenposten, Deila and Juarez met by chance at a mall in Cancun, Mexico while Deila was vacationing with his family. Juarez recognized the former Celtic FC coach and introduced himself.
Juarez played for Celtic FC from 2010-12 and two years later, Deila took over the Hoops from Neil Lennon.
