Regis Philbin, who died Friday at age 88, was a die-hard Notre Dame football fan who once agreed to pose for the Orlando Sentinel football preview section in 2007.
Wearing a green letterman jacket sporting the word “Irish,” Philbin, an alumnus of Notre Dame, was photographed as if he was dropping back to throw a red, white and blue football. Inside, the legendary TV host posed with more sports memorabilia and talked about his love of the Fighting Irish and memories of great — and not-so-great — games.
His worst? “First loss I ever saw at Notre Dame.
