LAKE MARY — Lake Mary junior quarterback Gunnar Smith tossed three touchdowns — two of which landed in the hands of senior tight end Rocco Underwood — and the host Rams defeated Lake Brantley 32-14 in the FHSAA Class 8A regional quarterfinals.
It was the second victory for Lake Mary (7-2), ranked No. 16 in the Orlando Sentinel’s Super 16, over the No. 14 Patriots (6-4) this season. The Rams won 15-14 in the regular season opener for both teams on Sept. 17.
Bolstered by a first-round bye, Lake Mary’s defense came prepared to handle Lake Brantley’s option-dominant rushing attack.
