The Philadelphia Union have added a young midfielder who could be the replacement for departed veteran Haris Medunjanin.
The club announced Monday it signed Slovakian U-21 midfielder Matej Oravec from Slovak Super League side DAC Dunajska Streda. Oravec is on a three-year contract with an option for a fourth year and the Union paid an undisclosed transfer fee to bring him to Major League Soccer.
“We’re excited to welcome Matej to the Philadelphia Union. He is a mobile, aggressive midfielder who can distribute effectively to start our transitions,” Union sporting director Ernst Tanner said in a club statement.
