University of Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway said via an instagram post about 9 p.m., Tuesday that he is staying at Memphis, removing his name from consideration as head coach of the Orlando Magic.
Hardaway, a former Magic standout who reportedly had interviewed for the vacant head coaching position this past weekend, looked to be possibly the lead candidate for the job, but the Magic search will no continue.
Hardaway said via Instagram, “What’s up everybody, especially the city of Memphis ... I love my hometown, I love my city. Just like I had dreams coming out of college to make it to the NBA and I achieved those goals .
