Paxton Pomykal leaves USMNT camp with lingering injury concerns

In a joint decision between U.S. Soccer and FC Dallas, midfielder Paxton Pomykal has left the ongoing United States men’s national team camp in Florida to recover from injury.

Pomykal, 20, will return to his club in Dallas to continue rehabilitation from a groin injury, U.S. Soccer announced Thursday. He will not be replaced on the USMNT roster, bringing the total player pool in Bradenton, Florida to 25 until camp ends on Jan. 25.

After being sidelined for much of the homestretch of the 2019 MLS season, Pomykal underwent surgery in late October to alleviate injuries that included an inflamed hip flexor and hamstring problems.
