Just two months ago, Orlando City fans were buzzing. We already had a great midfield last season, with Kaka, Darwin Ceren, and Cristian Higuita and now, the club was announcing that they had signed Antonio Nocerino.
The Italian had established himself as a reliable deep-lying midfielder that wasn’t afraid to take a crack from distance for Serie A giants Juventus, Palermo, and AC Milan and even has 15 senior caps for the Azzurri. Also, he’s only 31 years old, so he still has plenty to offer, especially at this level.
If you bought in to the hype, like I did, you probably thought that this signing turned us into automatic contenders in the Eastern Conference, but fast forward to now and that just hasn’t been the case.
