Orlando City reserves aim to make most of MLS tournament opportunity

To help offset the demanding schedule, MLS teams will be able to make five player substitutions instead of three during matches.

It creates a serious opportunity for the young talent on the Orlando City roster to play more minutes than they were previously in earn in a high-stakes platform.

“I think it’s going to be beneficial for the guys who are not normally starting players,” second-year striker Santiago Patiño said. “This gives you a little more of an opportunity to come in the game and help the team with whatever they need in that moment.”

Forward Chris Mueller isn’t a rookie anymore, but he’s still a young player growing into his game in MLS.
