Orlando City released Swiss midfielder Adrian Winter from his contract Friday due to family reasons.
The move was a "mutual termination," according to a spokesman for the club, meaning Orlando City no longer has to pay Winter and he does not have any further obligations to the club. Paperwork still is being finalized.
Winter said goodbye to teammates Friday morning and is set to join a club in Switzerland, which has not yet been disclosed.
