Orlando City long-time owner Flávio Augusto da Silva: “I’ll still feel like an Orlando City member forever”

For longtime Orlando City owner Flávio Augusto da Silva, the sale of the club to the Wilf family this week isn’t really an end to anything.

“I don’t feel that I’m leaving,” Augusto da Silva said. “I’m not leaving; I’m just not owning the shares of the club. For me, Orlando City is still the same. I’m still around, I’m still watching the games. ... I’ll still feel like an Orlando City member forever. Nobody can take this from me.”

Augusto da Silva finalized the sale to the Vikings owners on Wednesday, transferring the entire portfolio — including the Lions, the Pride, the academy system and Exploria Stadium — after nearly six seasons and eight years as owner.
