Other soccer leagues in the U.S. have used a single-site, World Cup style tournament format. The National Women’s Soccer League will start its season with the Challenge Cup in Utah at the end of June, while Major League Soccer is expected to officially announce details about a similar tournament hosted in Orlando in July.
Ahead of resuming play, the USL announced it will set health and wellness protocols for each club. The league is also currently working on options for clubs located in markets where training and playing would go against local health guidelines.
Before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Orlando City B was set to begin its season on March 28 on the road against New England.
