Olympia, Lake Nona take top high school boys tennis honors

A year after losing most of his junior season to a COVID-19 outbreak that shut schools and sports down, Olympia boys tennis standout Alexey Timokhine returned to his winning ways this spring.

The Olympia High Senior wrapped up the third undefeated regular season in his four-year high school tennis career and is the Orlando Sentinel Player of the Year for 2021.

The No. 1 team in the final Sentinel Super Six rankings was a very close call. We went with Lake Nona, which could come back even stronger next season.

Buzz: Titans standout went 23-1 in singles as a senior with the only loss at the FHSAA state tournament to Class 4A runner-up Julen Morgan of Miami Ferguson.
