The Olympia boys doubles duo of Alexey Timokhine and Luis Leon will play for a state tennis championship on Friday morning.
The two seniors teamed to win two straight set matches on Thursday, including a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Julen Morgan and Kenden Aguilera of Miami Ferguson in the final of the Class 4A individual qualifiers bracket.
The Titans’ tandem plays for the doubles crown at 8 a.m. at Sanlando Park against players from another Miami school, Jonathan Irwanto and Sebastian Rondon of Dr. Krop, which wrapped up the 4A team title Thursday.
A win would make Timokhine and Leon the first boys state titlists since Winter Park’s Ninan Kumar and Will Smyrk captured the 4A doubles crown in 2015.
