During his initial years as a first team manager with Strømsgodset, Celtic FC and Våleranga, New York City FC head coach Ronny Deila spent time at the Manchester City training grounds soaking in the methods of a club in its ascendency.
It is there that Deila met Nick Cushing.
Three days after the Norwegian was named the fourth head coach for New York City, Deila added Cushing as his second in command in the Bronx.
“He has an incredible reputation within footballing circles and what he’s achieved in Manchester has been nothing short of incredible,” Deila said in a statement released by the club.
