Orlando Christian Prep and Oak Ridge, state championship favorites that are ranked No. 1 and 2 in the Sentinel Super 16 boys basketball rankings, are set to play Monday in a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday showdown.
The duel for Orlando bragging rights, scheduled for a 6:30 p.m., was announced Thursday by Oak Ridge as the marquee matchup for the Pioneers’ MLK Dream is Real Classic. It’s an addition to the 2020-21 season that had been talked about since the season started but not worked out until this week according to Pioneers coach Steve Reece.
Even Thursday, there was some hesitancy at OCP when asked to confirm the agreement.
