New York Red Bulls lack offensive fire in 2-0 loss to Columbus Crew

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The New York Red Bulls were listless on the attack and sputtered to a 2-0 loss against the Columbus Crew, losing the upper hand in their MLS tournament group.

The loss ultimately came from a lack of attacking composure and drive from New York, which didn’t place any of its seven shots on frame. The team has only scored one goal so far in the tournament.

The Red Bulls fell apart through the midfield, struggling to maintain any shape or connect passes through the gut of the field. The team began to regain its composure in the second half, but at that point they trailed by two goals and could not recover.
