The left side of the defense for the back-to-back defending champions of the National Women’s Soccer League will remain intact for the foreseeable future.

Centerback Abby Erceg and fullback Jaelene Daniels have signed new contracts to remain with the North Carolina Courage, the club announced Wednesday. Each player agreed to a two-year deal with an additional one-year option.

The duo was part of a Courage defense that allowed just 23 goals in 26 games. They played a combined 48 games for 4,355 minutes.

Erceg, 30, has captained the club since it relocated from Rochester, New York to Cary, North Carolina in 2017.
