NASCAR driver Ross Chastain aims to make Coke Zero Sugar 400 a smashing success, first Cup Series win

Yet, Chastain hungers to desecrate one of his family’s prized succulents Saturday night in Victory Lane at Daytona International Speedway.

The 28-year-old celebrates race wins by slamming a watermelon onto the asphalt. Turning the regular season-ending Coke Zero Sugar 400 into a smashing success and his first Cup Series win would catapult Chastain into the final spot for the 16th and final spot in the playoffs.

Now in his third year in the Cup Series, Chastain has enjoyed success during his first season with Chip Ganassi Racing. Driving the No, 42 Chevrolet, Chastain has posted six top-10 finishes, including three during the past six races, after managing just one during 79 starts prior to 2021.
