Dexter Rentz Jr. was about to drive away from his grandfather’s house following a funeral when bullets hit his car parked in Orlando’s Carver Shores neighborhood.
Dexter, who was in the vehicle’s driver’s seat, was shot and fell into the street. His younger brother, Derrick Rentz, was a passenger in the vehicle and ran around the car to help him.
Dexter was killed late Saturday night, about one month before the Ocoee High senior was going to enroll at the University of Louisville on a football scholarship.
“Derrick pulled him back in the car and they called the paramedics and once the paramedics took too long, that’s when they tried to drive him to the hospital,” Rentz Sinclair said.
