The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday the signing of Emanuel Maciel from San Lorenzo in Argentina’s first division. The acquisition will be confirmed after the central midfielder receives his international transfer certificate and work visa.
Maciel joined on a free transfer in what the Impact call “a strategic cooperative relationship” between both clubs. The acquisition comes in the wake of Ignacio Piatti’s contract termination which allowed the star player to return to San Lorenzo.
“We are happy to welcome with us Emanuel, a promising young player,” said sporting director Olivier Renard in a statement.
