At the beginning of 2017, Jason Kreis clearly identified the goal for Orlando City this season is to compete in the MLS Playoffs. The Lions currently sit fourth out of 11 Eastern Conference teams vying for a playoff spot.
Half-way through the season and on track for the MLS Playoffs, Orlando City are five points better off this year (7-6-5, 26 points) than the team was last year (4-9-5, 21 points).
The Lions, however, have little room for error as Columbus, NY Red Bulls, and MLS newcomers Atlanta United are all within striking distance for a coveted top six position.
