Michael Jordan joins NASCAR, teams with Bubba Wallace, Denny Hamlin

Growing up in Wilmington, N.C., Michael Jordan would hop on his bicycle, meet his buddies from junior high and head down to Hoss Ellington’s nearby garage.

This fascination with stock car racing continued even as basketball earned Jordan boundless fame, a $2 billion fortune and even his own Jordan Brand.

Decades since Jordan began his rise on Tobacco Road at UNC, the 57-year-old’s roots in NASCAR country have inspired him to field a Cup Series team of his own.

NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace is teaming up with basketball legend Michael Jordan and 23XI Racing, seeking to make the most of what he calls his last opportunity to succeed in the Cup Series.
