Miami QB D’Eriq King should be commended not ridiculed for decision to come back | Commentary

Four days earlier, the Miami quarterback announced he was returning for another year, calling his experience playing for the Hurricanes “unbelievable.” He said he was looking forward to leading the Hurricanes and learning from his coaches during the 2021 season.

It all seemed irrelevant as King hobbled toward the locker room midway through the second quarter of the Cheez-It Bowl at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium Tuesday night. King sustained an apparent right knee injury that required the help of a pair of athletic trainers. He didn’t return to the game as backup N’Kosi Perry stepped up to guide Miami’s offense during a 37-34 loss to Oklahoma State.
