Miami Hurricanes eliminated in baseball regional after loss to South Alabama

The Miami Hurricanes’ baseball team went from looking like it had the Gainesville Regional lined up in its favor to getting ousted in less than 24 hours.

Miami, once again, didn’t hit nearly enough and gave up a big third inning to drop a regional elimination game to South Alabama, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Florida Ballpark.

The regional No. 2 seed Hurricanes, after appearing to have a clear path to super regionals following a Friday victory over the same Jaguars and the swift elimination of top-seed Florida, are done in 2021. In a regional completely turned upside down, 3-seed South Alabama and fourth-seeded South Florida, whom UM lost to in the winners’ bracket on Saturday night, now battle to advance.
