The Miami Dolphins were awarded rookie defensive back Trill Williams off the waiver wire on Monday after the New Orleans Saints released the former Syracuse standout last weekend with a failed physical designation.
Williams, who started 14 of the 28 games he played for the Orangemen, contributed 93 tackles (65 solo), four interceptions, and scored two defensive touchdowns during his collegiate career.
The defensive back, who has experience playing safety and nickel cornerback, opted out of the remainder of Syracuse’s season in November, leaving college as a junior.
Williams was expected by many draft gurus to be Syracuse’s third player taken during the 2021 NFL draft, but he instead signed with the Saints as an undrafted player.
