Orlando Pride striker Marta has been nominated for BBC Women’s Footballer Of The Year. In 2016, Marta led the Brazilian national team to a home Olympics in Rio. She was one of the eight flagbearers in the opening ceremony and her team finished fourth in the tournament. She also played for FC Rosengard in Damallsvenskan and helped the team make it to the Quarterfinals of the 2016 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Marta joined the Orlando Pride at the start of the 2017 season, and played her first match with the team as a substitute in the home opener against the Washington Spirit.
