Orlando Magic head coach Steve Clifford has been cleared from the NBA’s health and safety protocols and will return for Wednesday’s home game against the Boston Celtics, the team announced Monday.
Clifford will not be with the team for Monday’s game in Detroit and he will wind up missing six games as a result of his COVID-19 infection. With a return Wednesday, Clifford will coach the final seven games of the regular season. Assistant coach Tyrone Corbin has handled the head coaching duties in Clifford’s absence.
Corbin said before Saturday’s game against the Grizzlies that Clifford still was not showing any symptoms, was still “feeling great and was looking forward to returning to the team after clearing the health and safety protocols.
