Lisa Baird named NWSL commissioner

The search for the National Women’s Soccer League’s new leader is finally over, with marketing executive Lisa Baird named the league’s new commissioner Thursday. She will begin her new role on Tuesday, March 10.

Baird joins the NWSL from New York Public Radio, where she served as the chief marketing officer for more than a year. Before that, she was the chief marketing officer for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee for a decade. She previously was the National Football League’s president of marketing and licensing.

Throughout her career, her areas of expertise have been sponsorship, membership, licensing and media initiatives.
