Lake County Schools followed through with a recommendation to fire Martez Edwards from his position as head football coach at East Ridge High School during a public meeting Monday night.
The school board voted unanimously to relieve Edwards of his duties as both a coach and physical education instructor at the Clermont school after it was discovered he had failed to reveal past disciplinary information during the application process.
Edwards, who was hired last June after holding coaching positions in four other states over the past decade, has requested an appeals hearing at a date to be determined, according to the school board.
