Kelly: Miami Dolphins hope Bowden can bring speed element to receiver group | Commentary

DAVIE — Lynn Bowden Jr., lined up in the backfield, took a handoff from the Miami Dolphins quarterback and sprinted forward 2 yards.

Instead of merely taking what was being given by the defense, the rookie stuck his foot in the ground, scampered to his left and outsprinted the defenders trying to prevent him from converting the second-and-6 play.

It was a gamble, but the former Kentucky quarterback the Dolphins are trying to convert to a receiver gained 11 yards on the play, and produced one of many first downs in his best performance of the season.
