Hurricanes defensive backs coach breaks down Miami’s tackling issues, explains what needs to change

“You’ve coached football for so long, you played it, how did this tackling issue and Miami becoming the worst-tackling team in college football evolve?” the reporter asked Robinson Tuesday morning. “What do you feel can be done better?

Robinson repeated out loud, “the worst-tackling team in football,” as if he was either in disbelief that phrasing was used in the question or surprised that Miami’s defense would have that reputation.

Miami (1-2) had a season-high 30 missed tackles in its 38-17 loss to the Michigan State last Saturday, according to Pro Football Focus.

The Hurricanes 66 missed tackles through three games, 22 missed tackles per game, has Pro Football Focus grading them as the worst-tackling team among all 130 FBS programs so far this season.
