How much can/should Miami Hurricanes rely on transfers in the future?

In Manny Diaz’s first two offseasons as Miami Hurricanes head coach, he has unquestionably found success bringing in talent via the transfer portal.

For this 2020 season, he found immediately eligible starters in quarterback D’Eriq King (Houston), defensive end Quincy Roche (Temple), kicker Jose Borregales (FIU) and offensive tackle Jarrid Williams (Houston). He also brought in freshman offensive tackle Issiah Walker, a Miami Norland recruit who could pay dividends later after he came over from spending his spring semester with the Florida Gators as an early enrollee.

This season, Miami is also now benefitting from the 2019 transfers of safety Bubba Bolden (USC) and defensive end Jaelan Phillips (UCLA) while Australian punter Lou Hedley (City College of San Francisco) has been consistent over the past two seasons.
