Geneva School ninth grader Mary Boyce Deatherage won both of her matches as the state high school tennis tournaments opened Monday in Seminole County.
Deatherage, the No. 2 seed for the Class 1A individual bracket, won her quarterfinal match 6-1, 6-2 against Avril Rodriguez of Doral Divine Saviour to remain undefeated in singles this season.
Deatherage coule play two singles matches and another doubles at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford today. Her potential individual singles bracket final foe is top seed Emma Fernald, a Clearwater Central Catholic senior.
The individual bracket survivor will face a player from the separate team competition for the state singles championship.
