GAINESVILLE — The can’t-miss label a five-star talent carries into college can turn into a question mark when a player hits the transfer portal.
UF coach Dan Mullen was not quite sure what to make of receiver Justin Shorter’s decision to leave Penn State after the 2019 season, despite the Gators’ looming needs at the position and Shorter’s impressive physical gifts and pedigree.
“I’ll be perfectly honest with you when he was in the portal, I had a bunch of hesitations,” Mullen said. “After getting to meet him, know him and find out about him, they were quickly washed away.
