Gators collapse in second half, suffer blowout loss to Kentucky

GAINESVILLE — Florida coach Mike White had already seen enough when he angrily, hastily called timeout a little less than a minute into the second half of Saturday’s blowout loss to Kentucky.

At the time his team trailed 39-31 after yet another all-too-easy Kentucky basket. Little did White realize things were about to get much, much worse as the Wildcats rolled to a dominating, demoralizing 76-58 win on the Gators’ homecourt.

White’s team was unable to match the length, athleticism and aggressiveness of the ‘Cats, who dealt the Gators their worst home loss during the series since a 25-point rout in 1998 during former coach Billy Donovan’s second year of a massive rebuild in Gainesville.
