CORAL GABLES — The Miami Hurricanes football program has been one of the main beneficiaries of the NCAA granting student-athletes an extra year of eligibility, and it’s helped players get ahead of where they would’ve been before the season’s first game.
With over 90 percent of the production and 19 of 22 starters from last year’s team back for this season, there’s been a greater familiarity between the coaches and players, which has helped the team build off an identity instead of having to establish one.
“We’re ahead of where we’ve been going into ‘19 and ‘20 because we’re in Year 2 of the system with all the players back,” Diaz said.
