Former Orlando City general manager Paul McDonough is preparing to launch another MLS expansion team and is leaning on his experience with the Lions, according to an interview he gave to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
McDonough said he learned from mistakes Orlando City made while building its 2015 expansion side and now can avoid those same missteps as director of soccer operations for Atlanta United FC.
For example, “McDonough said Orlando City may have geared too young when he was there,” according to the article. So, he’s tried to start building a roster balanced with young players and veterans.
