Dolphins trade fifth-round pick to 49ers to acquire tailback Matt Breida

After coming up short on tailbacks in the first two days of the NFL draft the Miami Dolphins used a fifth-round pick to acquire a veteran tailback who has started 18 games in his first three NFL seasons.

Miami sent the San Francisco 49ers a fifth-round pick to acquire former Georgia Southern standout Matt Breida, who has rushed for 1,902 yards and scored 10 touchdowns during his time with the 49ers.

Breida, who was given a second-round tender worth $3.26 million as a restricted free agent this offseason, is a versatile talent from Brooksville, Florida.

Last season he gained 623 rushing yards, averaging 5.
