Dolphins release tailback De’Lance Turner

The Miami Dolphins released tailback De’Lance Turner, who spent a couple weeks with the team late last season after being claimed off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad.

Turner, a former standout at Alcorn State, spent his first two seasons in the NFL fighting to be on a team’s 53-man roster. The Dolphins claimed the tailback from Baltimore in November of the 2019 season, and he contributed 6-yards on four rushing attempts in the eight games he played in for the Dolphins last season.

Miami added veteran tailback Jordan Howard in free agency this offseason, and traded a 2020 fifth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers to acquire veteran tailback Matt Breida, and that pair of newcomers will compete with Kalen Ballage, Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin to determine who handles the bulk of the tailback work in Miami’s backfield in 2020.
