Dolphins continue building up O-line by selecting Notre Dame standout on NFL draft’s second day

A year after signing Ereck Flowers and Ted Karras as free agents, and selecting three rookies early in the 2020 NFL draft, the Dolphins traded up in the second round to select Notre Dame offensive lineman Liam Eichenberg, a three-year starter for one of the nation’s best college offensive lines.

Miami valued Eichenberg so much the franchise sent the New York Giants a 2022 third-round pick to move up eight spots Friday — going from pick No. 50 to No. 42 in the 2021 NFL draft — to secure Eichenberg, who many talent evaluators felt might play offensive guard in the NFL because of his stellar footwork and impressive movement skills.
