Dolphins camp: Rowe shines during matchup with Falcons’ Pitts; stock up, stock down and other Wednesday observations

MIAMI GARDENS — Eric Rowe heard all the draft buzz about tight end Kyle Pitts, and how he’s supposed to be a generational talent.

That’s one of the many reasons the Miami Dolphins’ strong safety was looking forward to this week’s joint practices against the Atlanta Falcons, and Saturday night’s preseason game.

This wasn’t just Rowe’s chance to sharpen his skills as a tight end coverage specialist, but he wanted to see Pitts, who the Falcons selected fourth overall in the 2021 NFL draft, up close to see how he stacked up.

While Pitts made a couple of catches during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 work, Rowe delivered a couple of pass breakups, including one in the end zone during the hurry-up situational period of practice, which prevented the Falcons from scoring a touchdown in the closing minutes of that situational period.
