Colonial announced Thursday the hiring of Gary McDaniel as its new boys basketball head coach. He coached Flagler Palm Coast for the past 11 seasons with seven winning seasons.
McDaniel, an Ohio native, was a longtime coach of men’s and women’s basketball, and an athletic director, at Cincinnati State Community College before coming to Florida. His coaching record there was 520-193 including six National Junior College Athletic Association national championship appearances.
McDaniel replaces Josh Pavlicek, who led Colonial to its only winning season in the past decade with a 19-7 record in 2018-19. But the Grenadiers slipped to 2-21 last season.
