Bishop Moore is cheer champ; Osceola and Timber Creek fall in state wrestling

Bishop Moore won its 12th competitive cheer state championship in a span of 13 years on Friday night.

The Hornets outscored runner-up Plant City Durant 80.2 to 75.35 to capture one of the 10 FHSAA Class 1A team titles contested at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

State wrestling: Kissimmee Osceola and Timber Creek, the two Orlando area qualifiers for the 2020 FHSAA wrestling State Duals Championships, lost quarterfinal matches on Friday night.

Osceola, the tournament host, was in the lead after five individual bouts but lost 39-26 against Fort Myers Riverdale.

Match winners for the Kowboys were Cooper Haase in the 106-pound weight class, Anderson Heap (113), Raymond Martinez (120), Gunnar Holland (145), Jaekus Hines (152) and Nolin Eaddy (195).
