Bill Buchalter, longtime Orlando Sentinel sportswriter, passes away

Former Orlando Sentinel sportswriter Barry “Bill” Buchalter, passed away Friday afternoon after being hospitalized last week with congestive heart failure. Buchalter, 81, died at about 2:15 p.m., according to his longtime girlfriend Stephanie Engelbert.

Engelberg would rouse Buck so he could acknowledge the visitor. The short conversation usually amounted to an account of something from Buchalter’s past, then he would drift back to sleep.
